In the news
AAMI and nine news have released an interesting article on the ‘Worst hotspots for roadkill in Australia revealed’.
Here’s an excerpt from the article as we think about the importance of safety on our roads:
As lockdown restrictions slowly ease across Australia, regional drivers are being warned to look out for wildlife when returning to the roads.
Collisions between vehicles and animals are expected to increase in coming months, according to the latest data from AAMI insurance.
Australian wildlife tends to be at a higher risk during the winter months with a 15 per cent increase in road-related fatalities expected between now and August.
IN SUMMARY – Where motorists need to be most vigilant
WIRES warned that animals will approach roads looking for water and food and drivers should take care, especially when driving at dusk or dawn near creeks and other water sources where fog may reduce driver visibility.
